IYCS, through her representative, Miss Lawkadinch Gomez, a member of the IYCS Movement in the Gambia, played a vital role in the SDGs Action Weekend in New York as part of the ICMYO delegation. Her engagement aligns with our commitment to empowering young people to contribute to meeting the 2030 agenda for sustainable development. Lawkadinch presented outcomes from global youth consultations conducted by ICMYO, MGCY, and the UN Youth Envoy’s office between June and August 2023. The session, titled “Youth Event Torchbearers for SDGs: Meaningful Youth Engagement and the 2030 Agenda,” held on September 16, 2023, provided a platform for young voices worldwide to share perspectives on sustainable development. Lawkadinch’s presentation emphasized the active role of IYCS in global initiatives, highlighting the crucial contribution of young people in shaping the future. By sharing youth consultation outcomes, she contributed to the ongoing dialogue on meaningful youth engagement and stressed the importance of integrating youth perspectives in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
