The International Young Catholic Students (IYCS) and JECI-MIEC Latin America took a meaningful step towards deepening regional cooperation and collaboration with a key meeting held at the residence of the Missionnaires Identes in Quito, Ecuador.

The meeting brought together Rev. Fr. Justo De la Fuente Fernández, International Chaplain of IYCS, and Ms. Karin Idrogo, Regional Coordinator of JECI-MIEC Latin America. This encounter, held on April 24, 2025, provided an invaluable opportunity to understand the realities and priorities of the Latin American region and reflect on the shared mission of empowering young Catholic students.
During the meeting, Fr. Justo and Ms. Idrogo engaged in a thoughtful exchange on the current dynamics, opportunities, and challenges facing the regional coordination. Their discussion highlighted the importance of mutual collaboration between the International Secretariat, the National Movements, and the Regional Coordination. This exchange also laid the groundwork for aligning efforts and strategic priorities to support the growth and vitality of the movement in Latin America.
The International Secretariat recognizes this meeting as a vital step in reinforcing solidarity, spiritual accompaniment, and organizational support in the region. With shared enthusiasm, both representatives expressed their commitment to fostering inclusive participation, strengthening pastoral and structural frameworks, and opening new paths for cooperation and innovation in the movement.
