
Roshan Melwyn Lobo, Secretary General of International YCS, Roy Ibrahim, Outgoing Programme Coordinator of International YCS , and Antony Judy, a dedicated collaborator of International YCS, attended the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP-29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11th to 22nd, 2024.




During the event, Roy Ibrahim participated as one of the panelists in a side event on “Faith and Justice in Ecological Transition”, where he spoke on “Laudate Deum” and Ecology, sharing insights on the intersection of faith, environmental justice, and sustainability.
This trio of IYCS delegates represented the vibrant and committed youth voice of the Young Catholic Students (YCS) movement at this significant global event. Their presence at COP-29 provided an invaluable opportunity to engage with global climate experts, policymakers, and youth activists. They gained firsthand knowledge of the latest climate science, policy developments, and innovative solutions.
Through active participation in various sessions, workshops, and negotiations, they contributed to the global discourse on climate change, advocating for ambitious climate action and emphasizing the role of youth in environmental sustainability. IYCS’s Participation at COP-29 reinforces the Movement’s focus on environmental sustainability and social justice, ensuring that the voice of young Catholics remains at the forefront of global climate discussions.
