On Sunday, 20th July 2025, the International Young Catholic Students (IYCS) took part in the Centenary Celebration of the Young Christian Workers (YCW) movement, organized by the International Coordination of Young Christian Workers (ICYCW-CIJOC) at 106 Rue du Bac, Paris.

The event commemorated 100 years since the founding of the YCW movement in Belgium in 1925 a movement rooted in the vision of Cardinal Joseph Cardijn to empower young people to become leaders in their communities, both in society and in the Church.

The celebration featured a shared lunch, a hybrid meeting concluding the ICYCW International Council, and a festive gathering of youth leaders and partners from around the world.

Roshan Melwyn Lobo, Secretary General of IYCS, represented the movement and took the occasion to meet and greet members of IYCW-JOCI and CIJOC-ICYCW. He extended wishes for the continued mission and spiritual legacy of Cardijn’s movements, emphasizing their lasting impact and the inspiration they provide to youth globally.

This gathering was a powerful reminder of the shared roots and common mission of Cardijn-based movements, and a call to renew the commitment to youth empowerment and social transformation.
