
On February 11, 2025, the International Young Catholic Students (IYCS) visited His Excellency Mgr. Eric Soviguidi, the Permanent Observer of the Holy See to UNESCO, at the UNESCO Headquarters to discuss key issues related to youth ministry and the mission of IYCS.
During the visit, the newly appointed Secretary General of IYCS, Roshan Melwyn Lobo, was officially introduced. The presence of the outgoing Secretary General, Innocent Odongo, provided a seamless transition as they explored opportunities for continued collaboration and growth within the organization.
The discussions emphasized the importance of enhancing youth ministry initiatives, promoting collaboration with UNESCO, and supporting young leaders. Mgr. Soviguidi highlighted the need for IYCS to strengthen its initiatives aimed at fostering spiritual growth and leadership among young people while emphasizing the role of education and culture in youth development. Strategies were also discussed to empower young leaders within IYCS, equipping them to tackle contemporary challenges and inspire their peers.
This visit underscored the commitment of IYCS to engage with the Holy See and enhance its mission to empower youth in their spiritual and social endeavors.
